Philosophers debate fiercely but they are really on the same team. Philosophers look for truth and the common good.

Many have differing viewpoints: The Skeptics questioned everything -- taking nothing at face value. The Hedonists believed life is abundant and meant to be enjoyed. The Stoics believed everything in moderation was the way to go. Plato believed that democracy was the best form of government -- given the alternatives. Socrates believed we must follow the law of the land. Lao Tzu, an ancient Chinese philosopher of few words, said “He who stands on tiptoe is not steady.” “He who boasts is not given credit.” Einstein said, “An unexamined life is not worth living”. Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

pensivePhilosophy isn’t dusty and academic. It’s pertinent and vital. It's problem-solving. It's physics. It's psychology. It's in the ethics of politics, and medicine, and in the decisions we make every day.

Respectful debate is healthy and helps us unpack complicated issues.

Since children are natural philosophers it is important to introduce philosophical concepts early. It will serve them well throughout their lives.
